Bio Angus Farms

Our beef cattle, bred and fed for meat

What animals do we raise on BIOANGUS farms

In our farms in Stara Planina, we breed purebred Angus. The breed originated more than 200 years ago in the county of Aberdeen, in the Angus region of Scotland, from where the animal's name itself originates.

Angus have a well-defined structure with an elongated and muscular body, a small and delicate head, short limbs and a lively temperament. The most important characteristics of the breed are high precocity, good acclimatization ability (from -40°C to +40°C), excellent maternal instinct, longevity and suitability for grazing. Angus cattle are distinguished by high slaughter yield, light bones and excellent meat quality, which is marbled, thin-fibered, tender and tasty.

In what conditions we raise our animals

The most reliable formula for the production of quality Angus meat is the healthy animals that live on the natural pastures of the Stara Planina, located from the foot of Mount Vedernik to the mouth of the Gornolomska and Stakevska rivers. Our Angus cattle are born on the pastures and nursed by their mothers until 7 months of age, after which the part of them that is intended for further fattening is pasture-raised with a special compound feed according to our recipe, produced by "Viand" AD.

The correct management and our daily care of the herds are guaranteed by the two centuries of experience of the Yanevi family.

Our animals are raised without the use of GMO feed, antibiotics, hormones or steroids. Our main motto for proper breeding of our livestock is: many mountain pastures with flowing spring water and little, but sunny and humane manure-yard fertilization!

Why is our meat healthy?

Our pastures in Stara Planina are mainly located in NATURA 2000, and in the Pirin Mountains they are from 900 to 2000 meters above sea level and are rich in biodiversity. Over 150 types of herbs grow in them, which help in the natural internal deworming of animals. Proof of this is the laboratory analyzes from the department of Prof. Marutsov at the Thrace University, which for years have shown that our animals do not have internal parasites.

Our farming technology ensures, through the essential oils in the herbs and pure vegetation that our animals are fed, a specific taste and aroma of the meat with a rich content of Omega 6 saturated fatty acids and linoleic acid (CLA) times more than conventional animals. These indicators in our Bio Angus meat increase immunity, support fat burning, reduce the risk of the formation of cancer cells, insulin resistance and cardiovascular diseases.

In a laboratory analysis, we found that 62% of the fat in Bio Angus beef is monounsaturated, meaning it is as good for the heart and health as the fat found in cold-pressed olive oil. Bio Angus meat is characterized by the presence of vital vitamins and minerals and is an excellent source of protein for the growth and repair of the human body. Our meat is also a valuable source of energy and contains such valuable iron, zinc and organic selenium, B vitamins and vitamin D.
